LAURA DURNELL

Laura Durnell was educated at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (MFA in Writing) and Eastern Illinois University (BA in Journalism, cum laude). Her fiction has been published in ACM (Another Chicago Magazine) and Room of One's Own. Her awards include the 2004 Mary Roberts Rinehart Award for National Fiction and third place in Playboy's 1998 College Fiction Contest. Her book reviews and articles have appeared in Book, Time, Chicago Review, and The Northwest Indiana Times among others. She teaches college writing at DePaul University's School for New Learning and First Year Writing Program. She lives in Chicago with her husband Bill Hincks and their Australian Shepherd/Sheltie mix Teddy. Currently she is writing her first novel as well as several short stories and essays.
